Mikel Laboa is without a doubt, the most recognized fi gure of the new Basque song. He made his debut in 1958 in the theater Gayarre of Iruna-Pamplona, released his fi rst single in 1964 and during decades of the 60s and 70s he worked intensely along with others (Benito Lertxundi, Xabier Lete,…) in the reconstruction of the vitality of Basque song.

Laboa has become one of the most emblematic cultural symbols of our land and is a splendid example for the new generations, with brilliant and intuitive artistic work, where we will always fi nd a lucky combination of tradition, contemporary poetry and experimentation.

“1-3” was his fi rst album that contains the essence of all his later works. The songs here presented have became hymns of our country and most of them have been trasmitted to new generations.
